Certificate in Phlebotomy Technician
Summary
The Certificate in Phlebotomy Technician Program provides students with dynamic learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. The program curriculum and objectives are designed to provide comprehensive education focused on the most commonly used skills among Phlebotomy Technology professionals. Coursework includes 7 weeks of intensive classroom, laboratory, and externship learning experiences in the areas of human basic anatomy and physiology for blood collection, infection control, medical terminology, venous and capillary specimen collection, routine venipuncture, specialized blood collection, and specimen handling. The classroom and laboratory experiences prepare students for an 80-hour externship experience. The externship opportunity offers students the chance to collaborate with medical professionals in a real-world setting. Externship opportunities are not paid. At the end of the program, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent, such as a General Education Development (GED) test or other equivalency test recognized by the candidate’s state of residency, or diploma and official transcript reflecting equivalent education*

Pass background screening

Pass Drug Screening (if required by the clinical site)

Complete a physical examination & 2-step TB screening prior

Pass entrance exam

Open availability for classroom and clinical training
*If documents are not in English, a translation into English from a translation service approved in the United States for legal or governmental documents must be available upon request
